CrossFit Kids gives children and teens a place to move, build confidence, and have a blast getting fit. Every class is coached, age-appropriate, and built around proper movement — so your child learns to lift, run, jump, and play safely, while having way too much fun to notice they’re training. Strong bodies, good habits, real friendships.
Who is CrossFit Kids for?
CrossFit Kids is a method for teaching CrossFit to children and teens ages 3–18. Based on the principle of Mechanics, Consistency, and then Intensity, CrossFit Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance, and fewer sports injuries for kids.
Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function — which means consistent participation in the program can have a positive impact on your child’s performance in the classroom, too.
Benefits
WHY LAKE WYLIE PARENTS CHOOSE OUR KIDS PROGRAM
STRONG, CAPABLE BODIES
Kids learn to move properly — squat, jump, climb, lift, and run — building the strength, coordination, and balance that carry into every sport and every part of life. Good movement now means more confidence and fewer injuries later.
CONFIDENCE THAT STICKS
Every class, your child does something they couldn’t do last week. That builds more than fitness — it builds focus, resilience, and the quiet confidence that comes from earning a win. Skills that show up at school, in sports, and at home.
FITNESS THAT FEELS LIKE FUN
This isn’t drills and discipline. It’s games, challenges, and a room full of friends working hard and laughing while they do it. Kids who enjoy moving become adults who keep moving — and that’s the whole point.
The CrossFit Lake Wylie Kids Program
Our Kids & Teens Program teaches children and adolescents just how fun fitness can be, while building a firm foundation of functional movement they’ll carry for life. Classes are always grouped by age.
*While classes are organized by age, age isn’t the only deciding factor. Placement is based on your child’s individual skill, athleticism, and maturity — with the final call made by our head coach to make sure every child gets the most out of their CrossFit experience.
CrossFit Gym FAQs
Is CrossFit safe for kids?
Yes — when it’s coached properly, CrossFit is one of the safest ways for kids to build strength and fitness. Our CrossFit Kids classes in Lake Wylie follow the Mechanics–Consistency–Intensity model, which means children master proper movement before anything else. Workouts are fully age-appropriate and scaled to each child, and every class is led by an experienced coach. Kids aren’t doing adult workouts with lighter weights — they’re following a program designed specifically for growing bodies.
What ages can join CrossFit Kids at Lake Wylie?
The CrossFit Kids methodology is designed for children and teens ages 3–18, and our program groups kids by age and ability so every child trains alongside peers at a similar stage. Placement is guided by our head coach based on your child’s skill, athleticism, and maturity — not just their birthday.
Does my child need to be athletic or sporty to start?
Not at all. Our kids fitness classes in Lake Wylie are built for every child — from kids who’ve never played organized sports to young athletes looking to get stronger for soccer, baseball, swimming, or gymnastics. Every workout can be scaled, so a complete beginner and a seasoned junior athlete can train in the same class and both be challenged.
Will CrossFit help my child in other sports?
Absolutely. CrossFit Kids builds the foundations every sport relies on — strength, speed, coordination, balance, and endurance. That’s why youth strength and conditioning is so valuable for young athletes in Lake Wylie and the surrounding areas: better general movement means better sports performance and fewer injuries, whatever your child plays.
What happens in a kids CrossFit class?
Every class blends skill work, games, and fun workouts. Kids learn fundamental movements — squatting, jumping, running, climbing, lifting — through challenges and play, so they’re building real fitness without it ever feeling like a workout. Classes are structured, coached from start to finish, and finish with kids asking when they can come back.
